Risks associated with Restoration of Security/Steel Doors
We want to ensure you are fully informed about the potential risks involved in the process of sandblasting, priming, and coating old security doors. While we take every precaution to minimise these risks, it’s essential to understand the nature of the work.
Sandblasting
External Service: Our company does not provide in-house sandblasting services. We recommend using a professional sandblasting service, such as A1 Grit Blasters, located conveniently across the road. We can arrange pick-up and delivery for your convenience. You are welcome however to choose any blaster of your choice.
Timeframes and Costs: Please note that sandblasting is a separate service with its own costs and timelines. We recommend discussing your requirements directly with the sandblaster.
Material Handling: To ensure optimal results, sandblasted items should be delivered to us within four hours of the process and protected from moisture and contaminants.
Aluminium Security Screens: Sandblasting may cause damage to aluminium security screens. In such cases, chemical stripping may be a more suitable option.
Potential Damage
Age and Condition: Due to the age and condition of old security doors, the restoration process may reveal underlying issues, such as rust or concealed plastic components which are not compatible with our powder coat process. We will attempt to identify these prior to commencement of works, however it is not always possible to identify (especially internal concealed parts).
Heat Exposure: Our restoration process involves temperatures over 200 degrees, which can potentially cause damage to certain materials.
Unforeseen Circumstances: Despite our best efforts, unforeseen damage may occur during the restoration process.
Door Components
Removal: All handles, locks, hinges, and mesh must be removed from the door before restoration.
Replacement: The condition of these components may require replacement after the restoration process.
We are committed to providing high-quality restoration services. However, due to the nature of working with old materials, challenges and unexpected issues may arise.
We encourage you to discuss any concerns or questions with our team before proceeding.
